Harrison told me yesterday that he wanted a little sister… and another sister too.

If his dream were to come true that would mean that I would be insane blessed enough to get pregnant TWO more times or be burdened blessed with twins. Let’s hope he doesn’t have any crazy magical psychic powers.

And while time passes and Harrison gets increasingly awesome and I forget about how annoying babies are, I have to say… I’m coming around to the idea of doing it again. But, I’m on a good-healthy streak with my knee and finding my stride in derby. The season is half over and I can’t imagine NOT doing this. So, as long as my ol’ body can keep up with my desire to skate around in circles and hit other women, that fictitious baby will have to wait. Also – I did the math – I figure I can get at least 2 more years in with this crazy sport and still have another little bean before I’m 40. Unless I counted wrong… which is entirely possible. I fell pretty hard on Monday and could have jostled around some of my brain parts.

We played the Hustlers – an amazing, super tough team. And we lead into the half! We ended up loosing by 20 points, but, we played better than ever. It was awesome. Here are a couple of the first of the photos:

Yes, we also work. A lot.

Here are a couple photos from our bout on Sunday and see all of them here. I’m not a big hitter and I’m not a jammer anymore so, there aren’t that many photos of me, but, I’m still playing which given the state of my knee is pretty much a miracle. I played a lot of pivot which means I’m supposed to control the pack and be a kind of leader. Roller derby continues to be one of the most challenging activities I have ever been involved in and it certainly provides an escape from life’s stresses.

My team, the Hell Marys, traveled to play the Cen Tex Sirens up in Temple, TX last night. They are a very new team and though we are the loosingest team in our league we came away with a 195 to 33 victory. However, despite our massive win, I got knocked around harder than I have been in the time I’ve been with the Texas Rollergirls. Wow can those girls hit! It was a blast.

Marc came with the kid and though it was a late night and H didn’t get to sleep until 9:45pm and woke up at 6am, I was so glad they came. Harrison (Lil ‘Sinner) got to play with Sam (Demon Spawn) all night which he LOVED.

Marc and Harrison are two of the founding members of the LOCAL 666 – the Hell Marys fan club. Which you too can join to support us in our efforts rebuild the team!!

We had our first official bout last night. The Hell Marys vs. The Honkey Tonk Heartbreakers.

We lost.

It was sad.

At least I still look cute in that skirt. And we got our uniform shirts! The tie is printed on the shirt = awesome.

Since my knee pretty much ended my career as a jammer I am a full time blocker which means that I get all of the fun with none of the stress! Derby is a blast – even when you lose.

2011 bout 1 – the round robin

Despite playing injured and us loosing all three of our games derby is still fun. I jammed a lot, which proved to be difficult when your knee is swollen so much that it is difficult to bend and that fluid is causing the muscles surrounding the knee (oh just little unimportant muscles like your quad) to pretty much completely shut down. So, there’s that. But, I did look cute in my skirt. I love my team. Playing at the Convention Center is amazing. And I still have the best fans in the world.

…is having to work late and hearing the squeals and screams of an ecstatic child playing with his Grammy downstairs.

Marc’s parents have been with us for a week or so and we’ve been too busy to entertain them at all. However, with my first-ever derby bout and a travel game to Colorado last weekend and two major projects launching today/tomorrow, having them in town has been an absolate blessing.
