portraits round 2 : the photos

Bonnie rushed through the editing of our gallery. They turned out good despite the challenging circumstances – South Congress, 7pm, balloons = distracted, tired kid. The ultimate success of the evening is a direct result of Harrison getting his first ice cream cone – an entire adult-sized cone. Which he ate all of. And then [...]

almost a 3-footer

We waited. We bragged. We cried. We consoled. At Harrison’s 2-year-old checkup today he was great. He talked up a storm; helped the doc use her tools; and only had one shot, but, was not stoked. At the end of it he got a ginormous bouncy-ball that he is currently napping with, so all is [...]

portraits round two

We hired the excellent Bonnie Berry to photograph us once again, to commemorate Harrison’s second year. Here’s a little trip down memory lane to last years shoot: For this one we decided to brave the wild urban landscape and get gawked at down on South Congress. All dressed up with a few dozen balloons trailing [...]

happy birfday to meeeeee

Aunty Kylies and Uncle Jeff gave Harrison a Fireman’s suit for his birthday and we opened it first thing in the morning after they arrived. And while Harrison loved it and immediately donned the hat, vest, badge and tools, extinguisher, walkie-talkie, etc… he was, per usual, more interested in the book that came with it. [...]

birthday extravaganza

The Chowanecs were in town over the weekend and we threw a party for Harrison. A lot of fun was had by all. There were kid-friends. And adult-friends. And adult-friends holding kid-friends. And pretty girls. And cake. And bubbles. And the roll-catch-game with Stephanie. And swinging. And more swinging. And still more. And there was [...]

two!!!!!!!

Harrison turned 2 yesterday. We celebrated with a chocolate waffle and strawberries for breakfast which he politely tried but, abandoned in favor of “Cereal. With milk! Do it own!”. He is surprisingly adept at eating the liquid+solid combo. We also opened presents: He got a “TRAAAAAIN!” from Grandma and Grandpa and a mini-skateboard, a can [...]

spoiled rotten

QUESTION: What do you get when you mix a loud-mouth momma, an industrious grandpa and an electrical engineer uncle? ANSWER: A very happy, spoiled-rotten 1 year old. It was around Christmas when I happened to, offhandedly, mention to Aunt Kylies that what the kid would really like is a board that had all kinds of [...]

what a week!

This video pretty much sums up the last week we had with family: Thank you to grandparents-McKirdy for the sandbox-making. To Kylie and Jeff for the multiple errand-running. To great-grandpa for making the long trip out. To grandparents-Blase for gutter-cleaning (an unexpected bonus!). And to all of you for the general good-times-having. We sure are [...]

so much to say so little time

We are off to ride the Zilker Zephyr! I will write more as soon as I can (I promise – Maggie!), but, suffice to say our baby is jumping head-first into year number 2 – he already has a chipped front tooth. There is nothing namby-pamby about this kid. Listening: Elvis Perkins (still listening… it [...]

1-year-old birthday party ideas

So, I’ve started researching for H’s birthday party… …and I can say, without a doubt, that the world-wide-web is going to be of absolutely no help. Thanks for nothing – internet! Listening: AC Newman
