Harrison and Finny are about 25 months old now and have been together almost every week day since they were 4 months old.

And today is the last day.

last day of the nanny-share

Harrison is graduating to pre-school – a Montessori school within walking/biking distance of our house! I cannot accurately express the joy of not having to commute – sometimes an hour – to take our kid to day care just to turn around and come back home for work.

I wasn’t sure about Montessori and we won’t really know until we give it some time, but, I believe that it is a great fit for H.

It is a sad day because it means that he is growing up and moving on to a new chapter, but, as with every ending – it means a new beginning. Harrison will miss Chelsea and Finny, but, he is, as we hoped he would be, a confident kid who is always ready for new adventures. We head to California tomorrow morning. We will be gone for three weeks – seeing family, friends, camping and hanging in Truckee and when we get back he starts school. Harrison is already talking about how at school there will be girls there. And lots of kids. And how they will sleep on the floor for naps – he’s excited. I’m concerned that they don’t serve organic snacks, but, if that’s my biggest concern – I think we’re going to be just fine.

  1. Those pictures are just amazingly beautiful! Have you already made a photobook documenting their time together?? Safe travels to NorCal. We love Truckee–we’d escape there several times/year when we lived in LA and Berkeley…

  2. Thanks MamaKaze! I didn’t realize you are an ex-Cali girl… but, it shouldn’t be that surprising every other person you meet is! We plan to have a lot of fun out in Truckee – we lived there before moving out here to ATX.

  5. just like when you all moved to texas, i worried over the change and how we might not be as good of friends due to the distance….but when you love your friends….that doesnt happen. yay for H such a big boy in pre-school! and if he is anything like his mama, inheriting her “amazing-friend-through-thick-and-thin-no-matter-the-distance” genes, finn & he will be best buds even though they cant see each other every day anymore. cant wait to see you SOON!! the bubbly is chillin!

  7. If that isn’t the sweetest progression of photos, then I don’t know what is. It’s pretty neat that H and Finny have shared such an important and growth-filled period of their lives together like that, and that it’s so well captured with pics. They’ll probably look back on that and marvel someday.
