it’s not all bad around here
I can’t remember if I posted about this, but, the kid now says Ta-Da.
Not a huge deal – it’s a pretty easy phrase – two syllables that he’s been saying for a while. But, it’s HOW he says it that makes it so irresistibly cute. First of all it’s much higher pitched than almost any other word in his vocabulary. It’s quiet, drawn-out, sing-song-y and sparkly. And he only uses it when it is appropriate. Like, when we turn on a light. Or when he stacks a block on top of another block. Or like, when he stands on a single board book giving him an extra quarter-inch of height. You know – major accomplishments.
So, rather than any old… TA-DA!
It’s more like a… t A — Daa AAa a a a a a
And in that moment he is filled with joy – the intense, maniacal beast that we now know hides inside is quiet – and Marc and I look at each other and look at him and say our own quiet taa-daa about this life we’ve created and how great it is… terrible-two’s and all.
