summer in san francisco : part 1
Was it the braised pork shoulder and fish stew or the fact that we’ve known each other for so long that it made the meal so enjoyable? A bit of both, perhaps.
We met the Chow’s at my new favorite-restaurant-in-the-world for dinner during our brief San Francisco Summer ’09 Adventure.
And yes, I am guilty of handing out undeserved recognition for bands and restaurants because I happen to have partaken in too much wine/beer/sunshine or just because it is the first time I have left the house in a while. But, this is not the case! This restaurant is truly worthy of the honor. First of all, the owners’ 7-month old baby is strapped to momma while she waits tables. But, beyond that cuteness, the restaurant is amazingly staffed, perfectly decorated (which is to say that it is unique, cool and completely unpretentious) and the food is delightful – with a commitment to local and organic. We had a great time and can’t wait to go back next time we are in CA.
There was a point – about halfway through dinner – when I looked around and wondered when did this happen?? That we could sit through a meal with great friends, hurriedly shove food into our mouths between the stuffing of avocados/beans/peaches into the faces of babes, have a few decent exchanges of conversation and call it socializing. But, regardless of the lack of relaxation that is mealtime these days – we had an amazing dinner… one of many we enjoyed with the Chowanec family this past summer.
And… for those of you – MAGGIE – who don’t care about my ramblings and just want MORE PHOTOS PLEASE! I uploaded some fun old ones HERE from this summer for you:
