missing our elizabeth
Elizabeth, our nanny, had a family emergency on Sunday, which took her to Dallas and away from us for the week. We finally got word yesterday that everything with her family is OK – a huge relief. But, this means that we and especially H won’t get to see her for two and a half months and will miss her terribly.
We luckily found a substitute nanny for most of the week. She is smart, patient, sweet and most of all pretty in the eyes of H. It is fascinating how that kid knows what pretty is. And knows what flirting is. It never fails – we’ll be out to eat and he will lock eyes with the prettiest girl in the restaurant and make her notice him and continue to make eyes, wave and then turn away coyly – the entire meal.
Kara’s theory is that babies are constantly, subconsciously, looking for a substitute mommy in case something should happen. A survival technique from back in our caveman days. Always have a backup plan in case your mom gets trampled by a woolly mammoth. Makes sense to me.

So delighted to hear that all is okay with Elizabeth’s family. Also glad you found someone to help. By the way Dad is counting down to H day. (I am also).
