we’re on vacation…sort of

As much as I intended, envisioned, hoped and planned for this week to be a vacation, it will not “officially” be one. Months ago I told Marc’s parents, who organized the lovely trip for us, that I wouldn’t bring my computer. I immediately rephrased that sentence to be more along the lines of: won’t bring my computer to “work” on. And then quickly followed that up with – I’ll try.

Well, I failed. But, really, who can sit around all day and get spa treatments anyway.

They are taking us to the Barton Creek Resort and Spa. Which is 20 minutes from our house – the close proximity means that we might as well just bring 3 car-loads of baby crap with us. Literally – Marc drove to to and from the resort 3 TIMES to bring all of our S#!^!This is embarrassing yet totally practical, because if there is one thing I am going to accomplish this week is to be comfortable. And comfort these days comes in the form of trying to give the kid a good night sleep, not chasing a crawling baby all around the house and keeping the kid from absolute, utter boredom (please note: we did not buy this at walmart – I repeat, we do not shop at walmart – we got it at a consignment store).

So, my goal of a vacation this week has been significantly retooled – I am now aiming to work until the weather gets back up to 80 degrees (Thursday and Friday) and only then close my computer for a few hours. At that time I will order a peach margarita or four by the pool and take my son swimming.
