the holidays are over

We made it back from our “vacation” – 3 weeks with family in California. My plan was to take a day or two to relax and then leave the kid with any grandparent, aunt, uncle, or nice looking stranger I could find so that Marc and I could get out of the house, see some movies, eat out and enjoy each other. Instead, all Harrison and I enjoyed was the sound of our lungs being hacked to bits by a deep, powerful cough and the slow ooze of our brains coming out of our noses.

Christmas Vacation 2008:
4 airplanes
2 trains
4 very happy grandparents
1 ecstatic great-grandpa
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 movies I wish I’d seen
1 trip to the mall
1 doting Aunt Kylies who can make the boy smile more than anybody else on earth
1,376 tissues
35 pounds more luggage than we came with
3 very happy people to be home. It is a great gift to return home to a place that still feels so right. We will always love California and all of our amazing friends and family, but, WE LOVE AUSTIN and are so happy to be back.
