nesting: part 1

Goals before the kid comes (just a few minor items):

1. Office to become office/guest bedroom: To be ready before Friday for Tim and Abby’s overnight visit. Entails building of smaller desks, installation of shelving, selling of Eames desks – any takers? selling of printer, and throwing away a dumpster-full of crap that never should have been brought with us to Austin; paint – mom, you up for that too?

2. Guest room to become kid’s room: Paint; buy furniture – apparently it is frowned upon to just stick him in a box; decor to be devoid of any hippos, duckies, puppies, etc… items already slated for the room: Arcade Fire show posters, vintage sign letter of his first name – no, the letter hasn’t been chosen yet… but, we are narrowing down the list.

3. Build an attached carport (my parents are coming out in a few weeks to help)

We have begun work on the office – see below for the before – shameful… and see our photos for a sneak peak of the after.

  1. Whatya talking about? I think the room looks perfect for little “Cat Scratch Fever”. Hey, How much for the desks? Are they not so good?

  2. no, the desks are awesome – we only used them here in Austin for two years – but, since we need to fit a bed in here, we made desks from Ikea parts and trimmed them down – they are low profile. The Eames desks are great – collectible – we had hoped to have them forever. They went great in the loft – this place is just smaller. Why you want to drive out here for a visit and for a new desk??

  3. I’ll be bringing my painting clothes. So you don’t want the cute baby lamp you had? It is really cute. I have saved it all these years. How about the needlepoint. Just kidding – sort of. Love, Mom
